How Demex builds world-class gate automation | Part 3 of 6

To ensure efficient and trouble-free communication between the gates in a system, Demex gate automation uses a system of unique CRP addresses. This is crucial to avoid conflicts and to ensure that each device receives the correct data and instructions.

Vlado Golemovic explains how each gate is assigned a unique address in the range 1 to 254.

“Unique identification is particularly important in large installations, such as industrial buildings or car parks, where many gates need to work together in a network. Without unique addresses, it would be difficult to guarantee that commands are sent to the right gate and that no gate receives overlapping or conflicting instructions,” he notes.

In addition to unique identification, the system offers adjustable baud rate settings to optimise the speed and stability of communication between the gates and the system controller. The default setting of 38400 bps provides a good balance between speed and reliability, but the system allows the rate to be increased to 115200 bps for high-traffic applications, where fast information transfer is essential.

“In situations with long cabling or older equipment, a lower speed may be more appropriate to ensure signal integrity and avoid data corruption,” adds Mr Golemovic.

By offering these adjustable parameters, Demex gate automation can be adapted to a range of installation scenarios and needs, optimising system performance regardless of the size or complexity of the installation.

Data Management and Users

Demex gate automation offers a sophisticated solution for managing user data and configurations via a memory card, often called Memory Roll. This feature is particularly useful in complex systems where many parameters need to be adjusted and maintained.

“Users can save their settings on the card, which facilitates the transfer of configurations between different systems or gate devices. This simplifies installation and maintenance by enabling quick and easy transfer of relevant settings, reducing the risk of downtime and improving system efficiency,” explains Vlado Golemovic.

The system can handle up to 1000 users and supports a large number of remote controls or key cards with different authorisation levels. Each user can be configured with specific authorisations, such as full access to all gates, access to selected areas, or time-limited access for temporary users. This makes the system very flexible and adaptable to different needs and security requirements.

“The system can also distinguish between different remote controls by using several types of radio coding, including rolling code and TW key blocks. This provides an extra layer of security and prevents unauthorised access, which is crucial to protect the system against potential security threats.”

This comprehensive management of user data and configurations ensures that the system can be customised to meet specific requirements and guarantees that only authorised users can control the gates’ functions.
